10.12.4 Workers With Medical Conditions
A medical condition may affect a person's ability to perform a task safely even when it does not alter susceptibility to RF fields.
For example, mobility, vision, hearing, balance, thermoregulation, medication, or another functional limitation may be relevant to tower work, roof access, emergency egress, heat stress, alarm recognition, or the use of safety equipment. These are ordinary fitness-for-work considerations and should be addressed through the organization's occupational-health process in coordination with the RF controls.
Any assessment should consider the actual task and the individual's functional needs, use competent advice where required, and avoid assumptions based only on a diagnosis.
10.12.5 Visitors
A person unfamiliar with an RF site must not be expected to infer safe access from signs, equipment appearance, or general workplace experience.
Under RPS S-1, a Supervised Visitor may transit a Controlled Area above the public limits but below the occupational limits only under the direct supervision of a Responsible Person, RF Worker, or Controlled Area Worker.
Before the visit, the supervising person should confirm:
- the authorized route and purpose of the visit;
- the areas and source states in which access is permitted;
- the boundaries and locations that must not be entered;
- the meaning of relevant signs, markings, and alarms;
- the emergency and evacuation arrangements; and
- the requirement to remain under direct supervision and follow instructions.
Supervised Visitor status permits transit, not RF work. A visitor who is to perform work must instead be classified, trained, competent, controlled, and supervised for that activity.
