10.11.6 Visitor Information
Under RPS S-1, a Supervised Visitor may transit a Controlled Area above the public limits but below the occupational limits only while under the direct supervision of a Responsible Person, RF Worker, or Controlled Area Worker.
- The visitor should be told:
- the authorized route and any location that must not be entered;
- the meaning of the relevant signs, markings, and alarms;
- the requirement to remain with and follow the instructions of the supervising person;
- the applicable emergency arrangements; and
- any restrictions on personal equipment, movement, or conduct.
Visitor status is not a means of authorizing RF work. A person who performs work must be classified, trained, competent, controlled, and supervised for that activity.
10.11.7 Competency Assessment
Attendance at training does not by itself demonstrate competence. The organization should verify that each person understands the relevant information and can apply the required controls and procedures.
Competence may be assessed through:
- written or oral knowledge checks;
- practical exercises and scenario-based assessments;
- supervised performance of the actual task;
- structured workplace observation;
- recognized certification where relevant; or
- a documented combination of these methods.
High-risk, infrequent, or complex work may require task-specific authorization and periodic reassessment in addition to general RF training.
10.11.8 Records Of Training
Training and competency should be documented. Records may include:
- the person's name or identifier and role;
- the training, activity, or competency assessed;
- completion and assessment dates;
- the instructor or assessor;
- assessment results, limitations, and authorization status;
- refresher and reassessment due dates; and
- relevant qualifications or certifications.
Records demonstrate the basis on which access or work was authorized and help identify when refresher training, supervision, or reassessment is required.
Training records should form part of the RF safety program's controlled records and be linked to the applicable Plan, role, site, or work authorization where appropriate.
