10.11.4 Refresher Training

Knowledge and procedures must be kept current as sources, operating modes, standards, Plans, controls, and work practices change.

The frequency and content of refresher training should be based on risk, task frequency, control complexity, and evidence of retained competence rather than an arbitrary interval alone.

Retraining or reassessment should also follow relevant changes, an incident or near miss, an alarm or control failure, an identified procedural gap, extended absence from the work, or evidence that a person is not applying the controls correctly.

10.11.5 Contractor Training

Contractors may be unfamiliar with the installation even when they are experienced in similar work. Site induction is therefore necessary but does not replace the RF training, classification, competence, and supervision required for the activity.

At a shared site, the induction and pre-work briefing should explain how the different organizations coordinate control of sources and who can authorize changes or restoration.
