F.16 MODULE—FIRST ORDER (PIPELINE) DELAY—ARRAY—ATTRITION

F.16.1 General Description

This module ages a stock over a period of time, Time Delay, whilst accommodating attrition losses along the way. This is the same as placing items on a conveyor belt and removing a fraction of them before they reach the end. This module enhances the functionality of the First-order Pipeline Delay—Attrition, by adding new dimensions to aid analysis.

Detailed treatment of this module is provided in Chapter 5. Development of the array version of the pipeline delay is explained in detail in Figures 5-13 and Table 5-10 through to Figures 5-20 and Table 5-15. The stock-and-flow diagram for a basic module used in the development of a career succession planning model is shown in Figure F16-3.

The functions of the variables contained in the module are described in Figures 5-13 and Table 5-10 through to Figures 5-20 and Table 5-15. Given the detail provided in Chapter 5, further explanation of the development of a succession planning module is not necessary.
