2.10.1 Model Boundaries And Interfaces

Firstly, we must build a comprehensive understanding of the components and their behaviour. To that end this book comprehensively defines the system dynamics modules and demonstrates how they work in isolation. This requires clear definition of the boundary around the module.

Later, when modules are connected together, both physical and information flows will take place at the interfaces between modules. This can only occur without error, loss of material flows or information, if we carefully manage what flows across the interfaces. The methods for defining and managing interfaces are explained.
