12.7.5 Polarization Of Sky-Wave Signals

The polarization of sky-wave signals is a complex subject. While it is true that transmit and receive antennas should be the same polarization, a wave emerging from the ionosphere has random polarization, but probably showing a preference for the transmitted polarization. It is therefore possible to receive horizontally polarized sky-wave signals from vertically polarized antennas and vice-versa.
