Spectrum Coordination

Spectrum coordination is the regulatory and technical process by which proposed satellite and terrestrial radio systems are assessed and mutually agreed to operate in a manner that ensures interference to existing and planned systems remains within acceptable limits, in accordance with the provisions of the ITU Radio Regulations. Coordination is conducted between administrations, even though it is often executed by operators acting on their behalf. Failure to complete coordination may result in a system operating on a non-interference, non-protection basis.
