Open Cosmos (IRIS²)

Open Cosmos is not deploying an independent global LEO constellation. Instead, it is one of the industrial partners participating in Europe's Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite (IRIS²) programme. IRIS² is expected to comprise approximately 290 satellites, primarily in low-Earth orbit together with supporting medium- and geostationary-orbit spacecraft, providing secure governmental and commercial communications across Europe and beyond. Open Cosmos contributes spacecraft and associated technologies as part of the wider consortium rather than acting as the constellation operator.
